For all of you who were not able to visit IFRA Expo in Vienna, here a short wrap-up.
Before going to Vienna we were not sure what to expect. It turned out that the total number of visitors to IFRA Expo was down 25% compared to last year and that was clearly visible at the show floor. Many big booths were embarrasingly quiet. WoodWing though was one of the rare exceptions, our booth was very well visited.
As usual we had lots of new stuff to show:
iPhone News Reader
Since last week we have the WoodWing news reader in the Apple App Store. Publishers of any size can now afford their own brand native iPhone App via this full-service solution from WoodWing, for just 499 euro per month. This includes everything: integration, hosting, branding and submission to Apple.
Enterprise 7
The new Search 2.0 functionality was definitely an eye-catcher. Other highlights were the Smart Catalog integration, improved out-of-the-box Drupal integration and many other enhancements in Content Station 7 and Smart Connection 7. A pre-release of Enterprise 7 has been made available last week to our partners and Enterprise customers. For more information see the Enterprise 7 press release.
Follow the Reader
With this Content Station module journalists and editors can see how well their stories are doing on the various publication channels. This brings the web analytics data (for example from Google Analytics and Omniture) into the newsroom instead of being a web-masters only tool.

Publication Channels
Our theme for this year was Don't just Publish - Interact!. The fact that we reached the front-page off the IFRA gazette showed that this was a good choice.
When we show how an editor only has to tick an extra box to publish to web we're always getting many Wow's and the usual question: "Is it that simple?" "Yes, it is that simple!"
At IFRA we demonstrated live integrations wit the following publication channels:
- Drupal
- Escenic integration via Azycon's connector
- ezPublish
- Facebook
- Flickr
- iPhone news reader
- Netbiscuits for all non-iPhones.
- SMS
- Twitter
Integrated newsroom desktop
To show the power of Content Station as integrated desktop we showed live integrations with the following channels:
- Celum DAM
- Flickr
- Guardian Archive (going back to 1944)
- New York Times Archive and Newswire
- Twitter
All allowing to search into these external systems and a simple D&D is sufficient to incorporate files from the external systems into your workflow.
Apart from all the new stuff we were also able to announce 2 large new customers: Sanoma Magazines and Komsomolskaya Pravda. All together we are very happy with the results of IFRA Vienna and it gave us a lot of energy.
Hope to see you all at IFRA Hamburg next year!
