Smart Layout CS4 pre release build 26

Smart Layout CS4 pre release build 26 is available for download.

This version is compatible with Smart Connection 7.0 pre release build 24 and can be used in Smart Connection workflows.

As this is a pre release version, there are known issues. There are scenarios where the story of the Smart Layout body and its components are not locked when a multi component article is placed on a layout in InDesign.

Smart Catalog CS4 pre release build 8

Smart Catalog CS4 pre release build 8 is available for download.

Installers are not yet available, instead unzip the zip file for your platform in <InDesign CS4 application folder>\Plug-Ins\WoodWing. If installing on Windows, also unzip the file dlls.zip into the InDesign application folder.

Documentation and a new draft of the Smart Catalog CS4 User Guide are included.

This version is compatible with Smart Connection 7.0 pre release build 24.

Russias Komsomolskaya Pravda selects WoodWing

Komsomolskaya Pravda, one of Russia's biggest and most popular newspapers, has chosen to replace their aging publishing system with WoodWing's Enterprise Publishing System. The implementation phase will be initiated shortly.

Komsomolskaya Pravda, with a monthly circulation of about 35 million copies and a daily readership of over 3.5 million people, is currently distributed in 53 countries worldwide. Read the full press release.

 

IFRA 2009 wrap-up

For all of you who were not able to visit IFRA Expo in Vienna, here a short wrap-up.

Before going to Vienna we were not sure what to expect. It turned out that the total number of visitors to IFRA Expo was down 25% compared to last year and that was clearly visible at the show floor. Many big booths were embarrasingly quiet. WoodWing though was one of the rare exceptions, our booth was very well visited.

PM Medici and WoodWing enter Partnership

PM Medici from Switzerland has entered a Technology Partnership with WoodWing. PM Medici has recently developed CPSTabFlow, an extension to the Enterprise content publishing platform to easily integrate Excel documents into InDesign documents, complete with access for remote contribtutors like financial experts.

CPSTabFlow can ease the process of creating annual reports and other documents that rely heavily on Excel content. More information can be found on the Web site of PM Medici.

Smart News iPhone newsreader for publishers released

At IFRA 2009 WoodWing Software announced a new service allowing publishers and corporations to offer their readers a branded iPhone newsreader via the Apple App Store. Such an application allows publishers to deliver content from their content management system directly to the iPhone. Read the full article.

Today i.t.i.p has become Premium Technology Partner of WoodWing. i.t.i.p products are a valuable addition to the Enterprise solution. This is also proofed by the shared customers, like Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in the US and SM Ediciones (Mexico)

i.t.i.p. products include InMath and Readabilities. InMath is a plug-in for real mathematical typesetting with InDesign and InCopy, whereas Readabilities can make an objective and reliable measure for the readability of text. This can be important if one needs to judge whether an intended reader group will understand the text.

A press release about Sanoma Magazines selecting WoodWing as their new editorial system for the future has just been published. With almost 80 consumer magazines and about 180 Web sites, Sanoma Uitgevers - the Dutch division of Sanoma Magazines - is the biggest multimedia publisher in The Netherlands. Sanoma Magazines Belgium, with its 25 titles, holds a top position in Belgium. Both companies are part of Sanoma Magazines, one of Europe's leading magazine publishers.

We're always proud to receive such large groups on our booth. The Japanese - including their translator - have become regular visitors of ours. We're glad to have a piece of the floorspace dedicated for the theatre this year.
